Ms. Simpson is a consummate professional. She finds out quickly through prepared questionnaires and personal interview, exactly what YOU wish to accomplish. She won’t decide what needs to be thrown out, but she is a font of wisdom regarding what needs to be kept for various financial or tax reasons, and very helpful in making suggestions about how to organize what you definitely need, what you may want to keep, etc.

She has specific rules (should you put papers in file from newest to oldest or oldest to newest; should you label the top of the file on the back or front of the file?), and explains why her choices are better than the alternatives. Feel free, of course, to do it your way instead, but I was amazed at how much easier her way made things. She specializes in simple solutions to common problems. I caution that organizational services may cost more than expected, in part because the tasks take longer to accomplish than one initially thinks, and in part because once you see how well she has organized, say, your office, all of a sudden organizing the attic or garage or basement become considerations worth exploring. And like any new habit, it is easy to fall out of it, and you may need to call for an extra appointment in six months or so to “catch up”.

Be prepared that this is a team effort; Valerie works hard, but so will you. You can’t get organizing done by just delegating her to do it. It’s much more interactive than that, so you need to plan the time. But it’s well worth while when you’ve finished.
